A 2006 study showed statre university campuses faced a maintenance backlogof $663 million. That totao spiked 24 percent to $825 million when the boarde completed its2008 study. And with the state’s budget shortfall totaling morethan $141 million for fiscal year 2009 and another $802 million for fiscap year 2010, the maintenance needs appear they will get wors e before they get better.
